Artifact: Vision Paper
Reflection:
The Shared Vision Paper is an artifact that I completed in my Technology and Leadership ITEC class. To complete this assignment I was required to create a shared vision statement that reflected the types of technology I hope to see in my school in the near future. I also had to show examples and provide rationale of what this vision would look like. I then had to make diversity considerations and provide stakeholder roles to complete the shared vision.
This artifact shows mastery of standard 1.1 because I had to facilitate the development and implementation of a shared vision for the use of technology in teaching, learning, and leadership. In this vision paper I had to develop a vision of how I see technology being used at my school. I then provided rationale that showed examples of how technology can be used in teaching and learning. I even went through each stakeholder’s role in the technology integration and showed how they would use technology. I showed how technology can be used by teachers in teaching standards, by students in learning the curriculum, and by the administration in leading for their leadership position. I facilitated the development of the shared vision and I hope to take it back to the technology committee at my school so that we can have implementation and meet some of the goals stated in the vision paper.
In creating this vision I found that I was quite interested in sharing how I believed technology integration should look at my school and I noticed how important having a vision for technology is to the school. I also could see how one person creating the vision statement could give it a one sided view. Since my school does not have a vision statement I took my experience from this shared vision paper and started creating a vision for my school. I plan on taking this back to the technology committee and get other views and input and finalize a vision for technology. One thing that I would do differently in creating this artifact is also provide the roles of Support Staff, Board of Education, and the Local Community. These are also key stakeholders that can help the success of using technology in the school. They can provide support, funds, and insight. They will be included in the Vision that I create for the school.
The work that went into completing this artifact would impact school improvement. With a vision in place the school can improve because teachers, students, and parents know that technology is important and they know their role in the technology vision. This impact could be assessed by observing teacher usage of technology in relation to the curriculum standards of their given subject which is their role in the vision. It also can be assessed by observing parents and students in seeing if they are meeting their roles that are in the vision.
